Quality education for both boys and girls is crucial in reducing poverty and promoting gender equality. Volunteers help to empower girls and boys by giving them the skills they need to overcome poverty and to make their voice heard. At primary and secondary levels volunteer teachers can teach core subjects, such as English, mathematics, science, social sciences, and can initiate extra-curricular activities

Volunteers teach at government primary schools/Private. The students range in age from 6 to 16. At some of the schools where we place volunteers, there are over 500 children with around 10 teachers and the principal. Some classes have more than 50 students for one teacher.

You can choose which age group you want to work with. For the younger children, you can help them with conversational English, basic math, arts & crafts, board games, playground games, sports like soccer and running, music, and any other talents you wish to share. Subjects include English, science, math, and history. The school schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm with a break for lunch as well as regular sports periods. Most classes are taught in English in Africa.
